Solemos usar esta expresión BE HELPFUL! para regañar a alguien por no ayudarnos o no echarnos una mano.

Ejemplos de uso:
Don't just stand there looking, be helpful!
¡No te quedas allí (de pie) mirando, ayúdame!
Stop standing around, be helpful!
¡Deja de quedarte allí parado (de pie), sé de ayuda!
Stop sitting around, be helpful!
¡Deja de quedarte allí sentada, sé de ayuda!
Come on, be helpful. Don't just stand there looking. Help me with these bags.
Vamos, ayúdame. No te quedes ahí mirando. Ayúdame con estas bolsas.
A veces sustituimos Be Helpful con Be Useful. La diferencia es sutil, pero
Be Helpful tira más hacia Sé de ayuda y Be Useful, hacia Sé útil.
También usamos Be Helpful para aconsejar y agradecer el ayuda de servicios y personas:
Be helpful by keeping your city clean.
Sé de ayuda manteniendo limpia la ciudad.
You are not being helpful by littering.
No estás ayudando tirando basura en la calle.
Gracias, tu consejo fue muy útil.

Siempre es de mucha ayuda tener a mis padres cerca. Me ayudan mucho con los niños.
The staff at that supermarket are usually quite helpful.
Los trabajadores de aquel supermercado suelen ser de bastante ayuda.
Forma de negación:
He is not a very helpful person.
No es una persona de mucha ayuda.
You are not being helpful.
No estás ayudando.
No estás siendo de ayuda.
Forma de pregunta:
Is he a helpful person?
¿Es una persona de ayuda?
¿Es una persona útil?
Will I be helpful if I tell her what I think?
¿Seré de ayuda si le digo lo que pienso?
